Gibson truss rod thread size

I cannot get the standard gibson nut onto the end of the truss rod due to extensive repair after the head broke off. I need to fabricate myself a new one.
Does anyone know what the thread size is?
Will a fender 'bullet' fit on a gibson?
All ideas gratefully received.
