i cant remember exactly, but someone pointed out to me that they were humbuckers of some type. from memory they may have been burstbuckers. think i was dave schwab who mentioned it in a thread a few years ago. may have been someone else.

i've always wanted to do one (probably my own body shape though). how are you getting the neck made?

that has a specific design humbucker with rod magnet poles that stick out of the bottom of each bobbin and are countersunk into a 1/4 inch thick steel bottom plate. An unusual design.

        Hello and thanks for reply!
Jason do you have close specs or pics that may show the design ?

I am not involved in the construction but I think he will use a wooden neck.

        thanks

found where i was informed, the answer was fender wide range humbuckers, and it was mentoned by dave schwab. http://music-electronics-forum.com/s...2&postcount=35

i had very little knowledge of the pup market at the time, so part names didnt sink in well.

no idea when the burstbucker came in. i still dont know much about specific pups in the market

Hey Jason, I remember reading once in an interview in Guitar Player that they used Fender humbuckers, and just made new brass covers for them. I've never seen one in person.... do they look like Fender bobbins? I guess that would be for the early models? Though they weren't in business very long.

its been too long to recall exactly what was inside- it does seem that they are a wider bobbin like a wide range. If they did use the wide range they modified it so its not just a stock pickup they bought from fender.

This is what I recall- its been probably 8 years since I rewound that pickup and i have only seen one but it was unusual enough to leave me with some impression that I do remember

Seems like I would recall a detail like if they used a stock wide range bobbin- those are so obvious that I wouldnt over look it, you know like the gibson bass pickups with the same type of construction?.
could also be they used a variety of pickups- who knows.

First post (great board I lurk weekly), on a topic close to my heart. My TB 1000S is absolutely the best guitar I've ever played in a band with. Other guitars sound better, but when competing with an other git, loud drums, bass and vocals...nothing compares to the 1000S

Ok got the first post out of the way...now I can post this stuff:

                        http://guitarship.org/aluminum_guitars/?tb-revealed-1- Pictures

                        http://guitarship.org/aluminum_guitars/?tb-pickups- More Pictures

http://guitarship.org/aluminum_guitars/?tb-revealed-2 Some interviews with factory workers (pickup winding is discussed), Even mentions Mr. Lollar calling him to ask some questions.

Tons of information (photos, wind information, wire information, etc.) on these pages ripped out of the TB Forum and various web pages.

I always thought that the wrh had Tele sized bobbins?
                        http://www.tdpri.com/forum/just-pick...umbuckers.html - A great thread about a man...and his obsession

I'm a crazy recluse...but I always thought it was a shame that nobody makes a good (accurate) copy of the TB HB, TB P90 pickup (which is a sort of tele pickup under a square bobbin) or the WRH...Three of my favorite pickups of all times, from three of my favorite guitars

                        Hope this helps

nice links sol. i'd love to get my hands on a tb neck and make my own body to fit around it.

Here's the old pickup with the Fender bobbin in it:

Compare it to a Fender WR:

The Burstbucker was released in Japan in early 1996 form what I've read.
