Just when you think you've seen it all, the ULTIMATE 'hershey bar'....

...unless they made a magnetic piano pickup! ...Which reminds me, did I ever tell you folks about my crazy idea: In the middle of a field sits a Grand piano. running under the strings end to end is a row of Duncan Invaders. Each Invader goes to its OWN 100 watt Marshall stack, all of which are arranged in a big arc around the piano. I think Jon Lord would need to be there too.

No, it's that diagonal chrome bar under the strings. it's a very long magnetic pickup of some kind. One end is connected to the control box with the knobs.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Harry did a patent on a elec piano with pickup but unfortunately it doesn't show much.

Hrm - I briefly looked at that patent and was thinking something along the lines of my keyboard players Clavinet, then realized it's covering a key instrument where all notes are generated by a single string! Interesting idea, although I assume that would make it monophonic? Still, kind of cool.

My keyboard player has been playing his Rhodes more lately, which is cool with it's army of tiny pickups, but when he used to haul the Clavinet around, I feel like I remember that thing have two really long pickups, akin to what's shown on the autoharp. Of course, it's been a while since I've glimpsed inside it, but I remember thinking it was pretty neat.
