Grey Strat Flatwork Question

Hello,

Its me David from Mojo. I am working on adding Grey bottom flatwork for Strat to our laser cut list but I would like to ask which size to offer for the magnet holes. .195" or .187"?
We could just as easily offer both but I was hoping to start with what was period correct for the CBS Fender pickups. I think its .187" but I'm not too sure. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. I'd go with .187. People can always enlarge if need be. I even make mine a few thousandths smaller for a nice snug fit.

The tighter the hole, the stiffer the pole...

LOL! Thanks Plucky. That's what I was thinking too. We do cut the holes smaller for the specific magnets so they will fit snug with no need to glue. Anyone else?

Sounds like its going to be .187''. In regards to pricing, I will let you know when we get the final pricing for the Grey material. Either way if you are set up as a dealer our pricing should be low in comparison because we are making them in house.

Yes definitely .187" all you need is a Radio Shack chassis reamer to widen them.. let me know too, would like to have some around.....

I had a guy ask me about some custom Jazz bass pickups. He wanted closed covers, and gray flatwork. I said "why? you aren't going to see it. Do you want pink magnet wire too?"

I offer grey flatwork on a late 60's spec strat set because that's what they expect to see. I've even seen in text some mumblings about "the tone" imposed by this special grey flatwork. Dumb asses...
