Coils are wound to about 7K and use 44AWG wire.It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Thats just weird. Well the other part of it you'll never find out about unless you spend a ton of money. What alloy are the screw poles, the slugs and the keeper. If you just buy some stewmac parts and wind it like Dave said you most likely won't get the same tones.http://www.SDpickups.com

So I asked him the specs. Also the magnet is a thin ceramic.
THis is one of his photos.

That looks like alot more than 7K worth of 44 on that one bobbin, I wonder if the cores are really thick.....http://www.SDpickups.com

The black bobbin looks like the usual dimension. That looks like about 7k's worth of 43 gauge to me, unless the bobbin dimensions on the white one are different.

Yes. It looks like 43 to me too. And it would make sense. ...to put more metal in the circuit, especially with a ceramic, to darken it up/reduce the harshness that ceramic can sometimes create.

I thought 43 made sense too, but he did rewind the pickup would have gotten a much higher reading with 44.
Either way it's basically a DiMarzio SDHB!It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

I'd have thought so as well. It's interesting to see where different people's thinking ends up as an end product.
Those bobbins are nylon. They look identical to the ones Paxphil sells.

His newer EVH-branded stuff have ceramics.

That pickup is out of a Peavy Wolfgang.Had one myself but my pickups had a alnico magnet and the same black sprayed brass bottomplate. The tone is verry modern and polished not as ugly, edgy and scratchy as the old EVH tone he had with his messed up PAF´s.
