    Anyway, the best thing he can do is change the magnet seeing as how the coil's already off it. Analysis of the offending item would be rather expensive so why would anyone bother?

      Yeah, that's was my first thought too. I'm just trying to learn about the history of these PU's, and if this one had something different going on. Any ideas on a good place to buy a single poles of alnicoV that are .718"x.189" ? Thanks

        Well now you have a problem, the old magnets aren't the same as the chinese are making, they were darker sounding. So you may have to buy an alnico 2 to get close. The only company making anything close that I know of is Arnold and they won't sell you one magnet. And their stuff can sound pretty dull sometimes...

          Well maybe the d & b will balance out the differences. I'm buying one .718" pole to try it out. If it sounds funky, I'll start over with something else. It'll be a learning experience.
