I build these with a piezo. I've had a lot of enquiries about fitting them with steel strings and magnetic pickups. Anyone able to give me some design advice or help me with these? I'd want to put a single coil in the neck position having it cast in resin...

For this one I used one half of a P-bass pickup, as I built this before I got into pickup winding. The other half ended up in this electric mandolin:

The short, relatively wide coil of the bass pickup seems to balance the quite trebly sound of the uke (and the mandolin too). The over all sound is distinct but not overly trebly. So if you would like to experiment and make a pickup yourself that might be a good starting point (a P-bass style single coil pickup)
