You're damn right I am and I don't care who knows it! -- I come in here just to monitor all you wannabes, minions and losers to make sure you all keep your grubby mits off my double-cream trademark! And my mixed wire gauge humbuckers! By the way, I've also patented the keeper bar and the baseplate and the bobbin, and I'm working on copper wire and double-black, so I don't know what you suckers are going to use to make your worthless DiMarzio clones now!

Seriously, assuming any of you have even heard the name of my "company", it's not exactly hard to figure out using my screen name.

Though I have nothing to do with either end of this, I do have an opinion ...(go figure!).

This place can be fickle! ...but rewarding.

Nothing to do with skinnywire/KevinT issues, but sometimes I do wish we could be more brotherly. Not to say I'm devoid of bringing on controversy through my own posts, but when I come here to read the posts, I do it as a refuge from other worldly stress, comming to a place where like-minded and like-interested folks hang out.

This forum is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

I was trying not to kick a dead horse, but I have to say that this thread is funny. I started it because of another thread that was created by someone else which was referencing another pickupmaker that I, and I believe other folks, didn't know is a current participating forum member that happened to be the focus of the thread and the article it was referencing.

Skinny and I don't have any issues and I don't want to create any. I was just referencing my contact with him a while ago about being anonymous and to provide an example (his reasons) of why some folks wish to stay anonymous. I wasn't calling anyone out or harassing anyone....i was just stating the facts and what was said to me. ..so all of you old cranky pickup winders go back to your machines and wind some pickups. Everything is cool

Hey tboy, can we get an anonymous smilie....one with no face?

            ...

We all have our little egos and most of us can come off as being jerks now and then; as for me in real life I am a total asshole and even play one on TV. I'm the son of an asshole who is from a long line of assholes, so at least I have a valid excuse. 'scuse me I have to go beat up a homeless guy, I'll be back in awhile......

                Possum is a Hooligan!

I like that word... let's say it together... Hooligan!

I also like "imbecile"... it's a fancy way to tell someone they are an idiot!

Getting back to this thread, I do not see any problem if someone wants to come here just using a nick/screenname/alias, etc. After all, on other forums that's perfectly acceptable. I normally use DavidRavenMoon on just about every forum I participate in, but for whatever odd reason I signed up to this one with my real name.... well on the new forum anyway.

But I don't see it as an issue. I'm glad to have someone as knowledgeable about guitars as ML here, no matter what name he uses. I'm also happy to have all the Spences and Possums and even the occasional Sam Lee Guys... all aliases.

I guess I can unmask myself. My name is Eric. I own the Guitar Repair Institute. I recently joined this forum to get an upper hand on teaching myself to wind pickups so that I may teach it in class. I should have my winder done this weekend and have my first set spun up on Monday. I want a solid year of practice, learning, taking notes and absorbing everything I can on the subject before I teach an entry level class on it. The school is currently in Boston until September at which point I am relocating it to Nashville, TN. If any of you live in Boston (until the 1st of September) or in the middle Tennessee area and would like to give a guess lecture, I would love to have you. Shoot me a PM.

                    Welcome Auto.

There is a wealth of knowledge on the forum. Most all subjects have been touched on at one time or another and I always recommend doing a search if you're seeking a certain topic. Also checkout the old forum link because there is a lot of info there as well that didn't carry over when the new forum was created.

                        Location please

I can see reasons to use a real name, and reasons to use an alias, but what would be generally useful is if everybody would put the name of their city and state or country in the "location" part of their profile, because the answers to many questions depend on where people are located.

David is too modest... I've seen his basses in Bass Player three times.

I'm not actually a winder, although I've rewound a few junker coils on a drill. what I DO have is an accumulation of a good deal of info on the subject and am pretty knowledgeable on pickups and guitars in general. I own a guitar repair shop in Phoenix. Previous to this gig I worked at a large independent guitar store that did a good volume of used gear. Previous to that I was a guitar nerd.
Through all that I've seen and worked on at least 11,000 guitars. That's where my experience comes from. When I have useful pertinent information, I'll jump in. I still yell at the computer screen when I see pickups on ebay advertised as Dearmond that are clearly Japanese made, or Kay.

...and you are asking "Oh mighty wizard, how might we address thee?"

                                Some call me.......... Jim?
