        ....

Kevin could you just tone it down a little....HAAAAAAAAAA Sorry couldn't resist.

Now what if you had responded nicely to this person and used alot of little smileys in your email and asked them why they are so upset with you? That would have probably been my first thought. Recently on the MLP a guy posed a question to me that sounded kind of threatening, so I was nice, now he is making custom pedals for me in trade for some old prototype VL's I had around and is a really nice kid.

I think one of my worst moments was a jazz guitarist in NY (of course) got really upset at my long wait time and started telling me my customer service was horrible and i'm a jerk etc. etc. So I took a long explanative email to detail the realities of being a one man pickup business and that I was doing the best I could, never taking the low road and getting pissed of in the email I sent, of course I punched out a couple walls over here but I didn't share that :-) Well he backed off and was nice and when he finally got the pickups posted all over the place how great they were, and turned into a repeat customer over time.

One time I had a guy who bought some pickups, HATED them like really bad, and instead of telling me about it started posting on some forum that I stumbled on by accident. I registered and then explained in front of all the members there that I had recommended to this guy that he shouldn't buy that particular set as I had had negative customer responses on it and was thinking of deleting them from my lineup. I also reminded him that my guarantee says send 'em back for a free exchange. I kept my temper out of it and issue was resolved, though he refused to send them back and sold them on Ebay or something, he didn't want to exchange them and didn't trust that my other work wasn't all the same thing :-) Once in awhile you just can't win, but no need to turn it into something like Ben did here years ago, his business was heavily damaged by that incident and he quit making pickups for sale at the time. Customers with me are king and I treat them like gold because they literally are, I don't have full control over my delivery time because I'm so busy and that causes strain sometimes but I do the best I can. Heck, I am one opinionated guy too, could probably arm wrestle Kevin on that one

You can't be everyone's friend Kevin and there will always be someone out there with some sort of motive to harm your reputation in some way.
It happened here with Ben some years ago with a guy calling himself Big Daddy.
Some nasty shit went on but eventually he buggered off with his tale between his legs.
I had some nasty shit from a guy on the My Les Paul Forum who turned out to work for a pickup maker from CA. The mods over there didn't delete any of it either. I'm talking about some pretty heavy personal abuse. But then people never think someone might turn up on their doorstep because they feel safe behind the computer screen.
That BigDaddy guy is still around and posts on the weber and hoffman amp boards mostly, though I suppose he is probably still at Ampage too. Anyway, he has toned it down over the last couple years and doesn't seem to get on anyone's nerves anymore and contributes useful info sometimes. I guess everyone can learn eventually......except Possum!

I have had to deal with this. For starters false claims about my business. I had a professed engineer claim on MLP that my PAF slug winder was a slot machine when in fact is based upon an industrial winder that has been made since the 20's which you can still get for over 4 Grand! Another claim implying that I didn't even use any of my vintage machines for winding simply because I had not posted video of them in use. And yet another claim that I didn't even make pickups. And that was just from Spence!

Seriously though I think there are just some people that are so anti social that the only way they can still communicate with the general public is through the internet because they have alienated everyone they meet on a day to day basis.
They don't make them like they used to... We do.

So is a professed engineer not an engineer in your book? Thing is Jon, I am a qualified engineer rather than an untrained machine operator like your self. Your turn.

                Cheers to Possum.

Okay Spence I probably was not being fair. I do have a B.A. in Commercial Photography and Film/Video. And I have run a commercial photo studio for 15 years and have had my work featured in international ad campaigns and on Times Square billboards..... So my visual vocabulary is a bit sharper than yours. When I look at it that way it makes total sense that you as an engineer would mistake a $4,000 coil winder for a slot machine.

Yeah sure, so what's your excuse for not making a video of yourself winding magic PAFs on your Leesona and your so called slug winder? And what of this mysterious third winder you teased us with? Looks like you've got a line of lemons to me!

It's all true. The delay in doing a video is simple. I'm busy making pickups. I'm sorry but I can't do everything to your schedule. Actually I have 2 other mystery PAF winders. I need to finish duplicating the traverse set up Gibson used. I'm making good progress on that. I also have 2 more mystery winders that Fender used when they switched to a machine guided traverse.

JGundry's "Slot machine" looks more like a toaster to me. What are we talking about anyway? Just what is a Leesona? I figured it was an airplane.

Well as far as visual qualifications I have 30+ years in graphic design/art direction/creative direction, illustration/photography, have a closet full of awards and work in design annuals going way back, EMG pretty much came out of the closet with my ad campaign, catalog and NAMM show booth work that put them on the map, 100's of album packages for some of the most famous guitar players on the planet for Shrapnel Label group. Lets see 7 years as a lapidary and metals artist, and 7 years now making pickups. Y'all are just a bunch of young punks
