  • getting ready to wire my first humbucker

I'm going to wind a stewmac humbucker kit and reading their instructions says wind the end of your magnet wire around the end of you black wire and solder it then put it in the square hole in the bobbin so one end of the black wire in actually in the bobbin which you will wind you magnet wire over it .is this correct ?

To me this is correct. At least, this is one way of doing it (the other way being having this lead wire come out from the side of the bobbin, somewhat like a p90)
But I prefer the former way (describbed by Stewmac).
You strip and solder the (start) lead wire to the magnet wire and have it come out of the bobbin through the hole in the bottom part of the bobbin. Have it stripped by a length of about the heigh between the flanges of the bobbin. Then you should tape the joint with a bit of non conductive tape before you start winding (to avoid the inner windings being in contact with the conductive joint)

    Hope this helps.
