Can you say "robot guitar"? Gibson has done a lot of stupid things since he took over... like buying out companies like Opcode, and even Steinberger and letting them wither. Gibson never was able to make the real Steinberger basses. They had to go with wooden parts. Now they use wood bodies and Moses graphite necks. They haven't done much with Tobias. They almost killed off Trace Elliott... good thing Peavey owns them now.

    Just lots of general dumbassness.

Nice to see you back Daniel.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

      Thank you

      Thank you all.
I wound the neck with AWG 42 20000 turns per coil and the bridge with AWG 43 6100 turns per coil. Sounds really nice for the type of music mentioned.

Hi Urban, your parts are on the way!

        ... and the EPI EB-0

Hi there, an old thread, but my subject has been touched. I am modifiying an Epi EB-0.

Current status: slightly improved neck angle, CTS tone pot, a four way switch, split the mudbucker and added a Wilkinson WMBR mini humbucker to the MM-like sweet spot. Picture below.

Now is becomes obvious how bad the Epiphone Sidewinder sounds: flat lacking any dynamics. lacking also the deep registers. It needs to be replaced or rewound.

Now my question: rewinding. I did already read the technical stuff in this thread. But one question remains: is the rest of that PU (iron parts, magnets) worth the effort? I'd like to have more power, more deep growl, more dynamics (!), more highs and an impedance permitting both PUs being used in parallel. And i do not want to put a lot of money into this low end instrument.

Back to the original topic: will the neck PU from the Gibson SG-reissue fit into the mounting hole of the Epi EB-0?

        Thanks
