  • How much does magnet size effect the pickup's tone?

Seeing as though I'm in Australia, I'd rather buy from Australia instead of across the border. Although the only alnico magnets that I can find are 60x15x5mm, whereas the bar magnets from mojo are 60x12.5x3mm.

Will the size difference make much of a difference in tone?
I'm guessing that it'll add a bit more power/ strength to the pickup?

Also, unrelated to the thread, but when I try to see mojo music supplies pickup wire stock the page is blank. Is anyone else having this problem?

I think that you will have a hard time fitting a 15 mm wide magnet in a standard HB. You might pull it off by removing the keeper bar, but I doubt that it will fit anyway. You migt try a "screw only" type HB. The sound will be affected (a bit Gretschy if you make it a bit under wound) but not neccesary in a bad way. Try it!

The thickness of the magnet matters more in this case.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
