The respirator idea would work but would be uncomfortable for any extended period of time. If you are not doing soldering on a daily basis then you can probably get buy with less. But still just doing a little bit of soldering in a confined space can make for a smoky experience pretty quickly.

I've been watching the trail of this thread with interest.
Just how many guys on this forum are making enough pickups to justify rediculous fume extraction systems ? I can just imagine you getting into the white anti biological suit too....
Desk top extractors are adequate. Let's stop being silly please.
As for gaussmeters, get one before you get the white suit and fume extractor.sigpic Dyed in the wool
