  • Making Pickup Covers

In a long distant post I put some pictures of some P90 covers I made. I can't find that post now but here's the completed soapbars in my '65 SG Special:

Also, here's a customer's feedback about one of my P90's in a guitar that was custom made by Dave Dearnaley of Cardiff, Wales.

Hi..just had a LP Junior made by Dave with one of your P90's.The guitar and pickup are awesome! I love the look and sound of the pickup..i can't believe how well it cleans up and how good it sounds...it is the best P90 i have heard..and i have heard all the big names!I'm very, very impressed! I also have one of your Tele bridge pickups in an Esquire Dave made me..that is also a great pickup...fat and yet clean. It blew the std Fender pickup away!

That kind of comment makes all the hard work worth it.

It's always good to get that kind of feedback. Most of the time when people are happy they just don't say anything.

So are you going to be selling any parts to us poor unfortunates that live in wales? Or am I going to have to keep ordering from the USA?

I'm not sure it would be economical for you to buy parts from me. I want to make parts that look right from the right materials but this can be costly and time consuming. The real benefit is that the parts will be right and that I can make them when I need them. AllParts UK can take up to 2 years with back ordered stuff. Not very good.
But no, I'm all for sharing resources. I'm not into keeping things all to myself.

          Please share...

Would love to see how you made those. I have some ideas of how I want to go about it but have not tried to do so yet. Can you post a verbal description of the process and materials you used?
          Thanks,
