  • Newbie sayin' hi.

Of course I found this forum a week AFTER I started winding my own on the wife's Singer Featherweight!

Great to see people in the know helping other folks out in yet another esoteric pastime! Ain't the internet great?

Anyway, I think I'll lurk a bit and glean what I can from the masters. I have built effects pedals, rewired and rebuilt guitars for years, and even did a ghetto fret job that turned out okay.

Now if I had only saved all those dead pickups that crossed my path for the last 30 years...(sigh)

You're telling me! When I think of all the pickups I trashed in the shop over the years... Let me just say I wish I had an interest in this earlier.

        Welcome Superferrite,
Now don't be gloating about your local weather this winter. Some of us in the great NW get touchy on the subject and may have to pay you a visit.

          Welcome Superferrite! Cool name.

We are all insane here, so don't listen to anything anyone says. Especially Sam Lee Guy, and David King.

Hey, your weather has to be better than mine in the winter!
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Hmmm, lets see, a sixties Dearmond soundhole pickup, a Gibson Kalamazoo pickup, a Hagstrom Viking I pickup, a Kay speedbump...all worked and sounded good at one time and then "died" in my tender care. And all went in the trash!

Especially loved that Dearmond--I had that in the neck of my tele and it was a rough customer!

Golly, it sure is sunny and warm here...
