    The cost is in the custom coating, not in the material.

        Nylon is close enough that they use it instead. Delrin is stiff, develops a deformation memory, and has chemical sensitivity issues.

        FWIW, Dunlop replaced their tortoise shell guitar pick line with Delrin ones.
