No, it's a problem at room temperature as well, at least for the soft white slippery stuff, which is what one usually means by the name "teflon".

There is some newer stuff that does not creep as much.

What about acetal (DelrinŽ) insulated wire?

Nylon is close enough that they use it instead. Delrin is stiff, develops a deformation memory, and has chemical sensitivity issues.

FWIW, Dunlop replaced their tortoise shell guitar pick line with Delrin ones.
