Sounds interesting man! I'm planning on building a black strat from scratch. What are you planning for electronics? Same as the Gilmour strat?

I'm also in doubt about what era to choose aswell, but leaning towards The Wall or Animals.

Jeep me posted on your progress. I'll be busy building the guitar first. Don't think I'll bother wrecking the thing with the extra xlr hole and everything Gilmour did to his one.

Well, I grew up on the 'Dark Side Of The Moon', so I decided to build that version first. Then, if I get bored, the version with the SSL5. What amazes me is he kept the neck and middle pickups original since these were considered so weak. The SSL5 is at least twice as powerful as the other pickups!

I have very big fingers and some arthritis, so I decided to use a pull pot instead of the miniswitch because it's easier for me to deal with.

I'm not building the exact copy with all the dings and all, just something that I can enjoy. Maybe later I'll get more 'real'.

Good call on the idea for the pot, might steal that from ya! And I'm thinking on building in a four way switch instead of three way. (than I'll have all combinations right?)

I'm mostly using the gilmour thing for looks and PU setup. Bridge will probably be different en sperzel lock tuners.

Didn't Gilmore use a Tele on some stuff? "Have a Cigar" seems to come to mind.

          [EDIT]

          OK I guess he did

BTW, he's one of my favorite guitarist. I always have him in the back of my mind when I'm recording a solo. I think the fact that his are so memorable is a good thing. He plays more like someone singing.

          Like this:

          I Close My Eyes

(can anyone guess what the pickup is on the solo?)
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

I got the book and it says he had the Tele way before the blck strat. The book's awesome by the way!
