A couple of misc questions PAFs and patent for double cream bobbins

1. Did PAFs have an outer protective wrap of tape around both coils?

If so, was it acetate cloth or the same black flatback tape used to wrap the individual coils? Most of the pics I've seen of PAFs had only the individual coils wrapped with no protective outer layer of tape..unless it dry rotted and fell off.


2. Can someone point me to the reference (DiMarzio patent or trademark) that prohibits us from using the double cream bobbins. I've tried like hell to find it. I'm unable to locate it.

Each coil was wrapped, and there was one piece around both on one end to coverup the coil wire connections.
