Mini Blade Humbuckers - Series or Parallel

Anyone have any preference for single coil size blade humbuckers to preserve single-coil-style tone? Wind them hot and wire coils in parallel or wind them weak and wire the coils in series?

I've never done one of those before but I would definitely vote for cool-in-series. Hot-in-parallel would sound pretty dull, no chime or sparkle.
