  • New Magnet Wire spec

NEMA has updated the MW1000 magnet wire spec, called:
    ANSI/NEMA MW 1000-2008 Rev 1-2009 Magnet Wire

This is the language that magnet wire manufacturors understand
so it helps when it comes time to order directly from the big guys.

Bad news: It costs $99 whether electronic or hardcopy.
Free copies for non-industrial sized users are no longer available.

"Det var helt Texas" is written Nowegian meaning "that's totally Texas." When spoken, it means "that's crazy."

You might be able to find a copy at a local universities' engineering library. I know OSU's engineering library had a significant number of specs, but that's also a massive school so... Inter library loan may also be an option. Also, after reading the errata, you may find that the newest version isn't needed, so getting an old edition used might be a good option.

Maybe someone at a wire co could make us a copy of any relevant pages? If they want to sell us the wire, this can make it easier on both parties...

        ....

What does it matter anyway, I don't think magnet wire makers are going to suddenly start making something radically different. Contact your supplier and ask them if its going to affect what you're buying if you're worried about it...
