Yeah I always thought he was a nice guy.

It may be as simple as his life taken a turn away from pickup things, and on to other things.

Steven is /was in the Ohio National Guard or other military service I think. He was stationed overseas for some time over the last few years. He posts occasionally and still runs the business in his spare time as far as I can tell.

Or he's busy churning out pickups. I remember sending him an email suggesting he add some tags to his website (at the time, a search for kersting pickups wouldn't show his site on the front page) and he replied back that he'd rather not get anymore traffic, he's busy enough as is.

            Lindy's Bridge Position

            Sorry to get off topic...
In the video, Lindy talked about putting a baseplate on the bridge position of his strats. Is this common? I've never heard of it.

Also he mentioned he used to use a doorknob handle rigged up to traverse the wire. I'd like to see how that looks, anyone tried this, or something similar?

              ...

I bet Lindy had the video destroyed, if they were making money off it without his permission.

It must have been A.S.I.A. I doubt that could have happened at a G.A.L. convention.

Sounds like it. I was at the A.S.I.A. symposium back in '95 in PA. There were some very good lectures, like Ken Parker talking about the then new Fly guitar. I hung out and talked to him for over an hour afterwards. He was a really nice and knowledgeable guy. That was a fun weekend. I met a lot of well known luthiers and had my own table right next to Richard Schneider's. I got a photo of him and one of his guitars. He passed away not too long after that.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Yes he was military, A helicopter flight trainer I beleive. I remember the old forum as well. Wish it was still around, had a ton of good stuff there. I guess that makes me old school lol.

actually SKs forum came after the original one http://www.guitarsite.com/newsletters/990621/7.shtml
notice the date is 1999 hard to believe 11 years has gone by.
SK came along later and wanted to be top dog- one of the only guys i immedialty got in an argument with the very first time we talked
Hes full time military and I doubt he has much time for making pickups.
