    ....

Yeah I already do that and was the first guy here to figure that out maybe five years ago, as a crude method to identify alnico grades. Its not very accurate for doing that, but I still use it and did last nite to compare some new alnico samples I got to existing types I already have. As a good example of how its not a good grading method, I have two magnets that get identical readings but listening tests show that one has alot more high end sizzle than the other and different midrange tones, one will charge to 700 gauss the other to 600. Yes gauss differences will change the readings too so that compicates things a bit, but it can still be a useful quick test sometimes.

A B/H test would be useful maybe for spotting tonal characteristics possibly, hard to tell since there's no way for me make a chart etc. I degauss sometimes by repelling a ceramic magnet against alnico and definitely some of them will degauss easily and others will fight it hard and bounce back quick.

          alnico 1

          I goggled this awhile back.

AlNiCo Magnets, Cast Alnico 1, ,Products,General Magnetic Co., Limited

I had never heard of A1 aside from steak sauce. going on possums chart, this should pair up nicely with A5.

I don't think they mean Alnico 1. They have a number after the neodymium magnets too, but that's the page number.

So I think the 1 is the page number. It would seem odd that they don't have alnico V.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
