    Pickup Winding Book

I will also throw one up on ebay occasionally so you can buy one with pay pal which I dont take on my commercial site but I charge a little more on ebay because of the ebay and paypal fees but not enough to really offset the cost. Winds up they take about 20% of the selling price!

I will sign them if you put a note in the comments section when you order or call it in and ask- number is on my site.
I already ran out but I am having more made and they should be ready later this week - I didnt expect 60 books to sell since last night and the orders are still coming in.

Would you be willing to sell a digital version? It would cancel out the cost of printing, plus I do 99% of my reading electronically now.

I remember he was going to do that, but that would allow it to be shared on PTP servers, which would be akin to giving it away.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

The world is moving in that digital direction. At some point in the future, most people will buy their books digitally. I would look at it like this: If I were to get a book on pickup making off a p2p network and it was a good book, I would be WAY more likely to buy a pickup from the person that wrote the book than anyone else.

If I were to need open heart surgery, I would rather the person that teaches the surgery work on me than any other surgeon.

Yeah I agree, but today is not that day.

PDF's are not secure for viewing so if you publish via PDF it can be tossed around the internet as freely as anything, and anybody with a copy of PDF Passord Remover can get into it and unlock it.

The "electronic reader" consortium would sure love it if we all bought in to their Kindles and stuff, but realistically at $100-$300 a pop for the device AND then you still have to buy the book well that isn't going to take off in a big way anytime soon. Their whole e-reader movement might work better if they gave away the reading devices and then charged for the downloads but that isn't on the horizon ...yet... either.

Drat...I almost asked that in the comments section, too. But I see mine has already shipped out. Yipee!

Thanks for putting this thing back out into the wild!

the electronic thing- its too iffy right now and besides think about the book- you can write notes in it and its ring bound so you can lay it flat on your workbench or fold it in half and it will lay flat that way too.
Its just too hard to control once its on a disc. Now you would have to scan it and the file would be HUGE!!! Take you a long time to scan it too- people have but its alot of work, more than the average guy would do and then if you distribute it thats copyrite infringement. That was thousands of hours of work ands its valuable information so i want paid for it.
Like i have said before I had no problems with people selling used copies for whatever amount they could get for it, its when they put it on a disc and then sell that for $40 or the photocopy it or they make a forgery of the printed item and sell it for $250 to $500 that it ticks me off.
There was a guy- he probably still comes around here that made his own version of the book- all original content which some of it I bet he used my book as a template similar to copying a strat body- he wasnt trying to pass it off as my book so I was all fine with that. So 15 years after I started writing that book- its still the only one like it in print- you got erno zwaan animal magnetism as the only other book about making pickups but the books are COMPLETELY different in concept- ernos is much more about mathmatics and really odd unusual designs with alot of ceramic magnets- very cool if you want to look at some purely custom items and its also translated from another language so it reads a little strangely in parts. There is no hands on how to wind coils in it- well you should see it if you havent, it is interesting.

I read that amazon.com is going to start giving their Kindles away towards the end of this year to people that pay the $79/yr for free shipping. I hope I get picked for that. I would definitely use it if I could pry it out of my wife's hands.

                    Bought and paid for.

I am just getting started with winding experiments. Got my first order of coil wire in the mail last week. So having this re-release happen right now is a heck of a boon for me. Thanks, Jason.

Would you leave pickups you made in a box on the corner for people to take? They might like them and say good things about you, but you didn't get paid for them.

Sometimes digital is better, but often that means it has some sort of DRM associated with it.

Also I would rather not have to sit in front of a computer to read a book.

Or he hopes that the buyers don't know. One way to bust the game is to ask the seller a question about his price versus the cost of the just released new edition. All the buyers see the question.

there is definately people that dont know the book is reprinted but if you did a google search on it it should pop right up on top-
I hope its worth it for those that have bought it- it is what it says- basic pickup winding but it started alot of people off for sure!
