Removing Nickel Plate off of Fillisters

I found some fillisters that I really like but need them in gold. Instead of incurring a major expense to get the same onees made in gold, I was thinking about using the ones that I have by removing the nickle plate and plating them in gold.

Does anyone have any experience removing nickel plate? Is there any thing that you have to do to the bare metal once the nickel is off and to prep it for the gold plate?

No need to strip the nickel, just gold plate right over it. The platers will tell you the same thing.

Cool. I didn't know it was that easy. I thought that you had to start on a bare metal finish.
