  • Which grade of Neo magnets is best for Magnetizing

I am aware of how useful neo mags are for magnetizing single coil slugs and humbucker mags, but which grade should I use? N35, N42, N50, N52 or ??

The higher the grade the better. Size also matters.

How you use the magnet is the most important thing, though.......

If you look at the magnet's Bh-max, that will give you a relative strength comparison to shop for.

There is undoubtedly a rule of thumb we could come up with to determine the ratio of Bh-max for the charger magnet to the charging magnet.
Arbitrarily I would suggest that your charger magnet have a Bh-max of 10 times the Bh-max of the magnet you are trying to charge.

By this "rule" a Neodymium block with a Bh-max of 15,000 Ørsted should be capable of charging an Alnico 5 pole piece with a Bh-max of 1500 Ørsted.
