  • Hofner bass pickup 511 model wire size ?

    Hi,

Does anyone know which wire gauge is used on this pickup, I have a customer who makes inquiries for a rewind.

I had a 510 (single coil as opposed to 511) guitar model on hand and the gauge seemed to be 43, or somewhere between 44 and 43 (the wire being inconsistent in diameter).
I've read a post here discussing 511 model for guitar rewound with awg44

Are 511 bass model wound with the same gauge ? Any info about original specs for these (DCR, turns).

    Thanks.

I had a buch of Höfner coils for rewinds in the past, mostly they did send me the coils. So I can not tell wich model they came off.All were wound with 0.050 mm red poly wire around 6 K ohm.

      That's 44 AWG, right?
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Thats consistent with the 510 pickups I worked on a while ago. And yeah, 0.050mm is AWG44.
