  • Which neo bar?

I've got an MM bass pup copy that I'm wanting to mess around with. It has ceramic bar magnets and steel slugs. The bar dimension are 2.9" x 0.55" x 0.125". Kjmagnetics has 2 bars that are close in size. They are 1/8" and 1/4" in thickness. Both are N42 grade.

Any idea as to which thickness I should get? What differences could I expect?

    Thanks.

Neo bar mag are very powerful (pull force), I would use the 1/8".

Check which way your current ceramics are magnetized and get neos that will have the same form factor in that dimension. The neos can be 1/2 or 1/3 the size in the other dimension and still give you plenty of field strength. You may end up with a neo that's the same length but 1/8" x 1/8". Get extras so you can stack them up for more strength. You can put the neos on both sides of each row of poles rather than having one single magnet touching both rows. You may have to glue the magnets down...

        Thanks for the info.

They have some bar mags sized 3" x 1/2" x 1/8" thick which will do nicely.
