    I really need a magnetizer. I also dont want to break the bank.

    This comes up quite a bit. Use the search in this forum and you will find a thread that has a link to a good $600 magnatizer.

                  With a good look at the case I think it magnetizes end to end rather than acoss the width. I might work for rod though.
