You can get very interesting distortion effects as your supply V starts to dip below the signal peaks, I found out the hard way that square waves at 500W aren't too friendly to diaphragm tweeters or drivers...

Unless you are using a fuzz box? I use distortion (three different fuzz effects) often and it hasn't hurt my tweeters.

But low batteries do make things clip.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

What could be used a replacement OA in the circuit? I did some lightweight googling and among the replacement ideas were the OPA4134 or a run-of-the-mill TL074 - however, the schematic would need to be retraced because the pinout on the RC4136 is pretty non-standard. I haven't been able to find a single drop-in.
Pickup prototype checklist: [x] FR4 [x] Cu AWG 42 [x] Neo magnets [x] Willpower [ ] Time - Winding suspended due to exams.

I had no problems finding the IC used in Anderton plans. I remember seeing a tip for using another IC where the IC was laid on it's back and connected with wires to the board.
