I'm about to run out of the Microfastener bucker mounting screws and frankly they are pretty bad. The slots strip out real easy and I throw probably a third of them away when if the driver slips and rips the head up. A few heads have actually broken off too. Are their current ones any better or does anyone have a better source? A true round head with deep phillips slot? Thanks....

I bought a couple hundred of the Microfastener ones about a month ago. They haven't been all that bad, So far only one has stripped out and I haven't seen any cracked heads and stuff. But I have only made maybe 6 or 7 humbuckers with them so far. IMO the Guitar Jones ones are a lot better and about the same price if you want to take a chance on that. I still have some of them and I compared them to the Microfastener ones. The finish and heads are better and the striaght part is shorter on the GJ ones which ought to make for less torque needed to tighten.www.sonnywalton.com

I got a small bag from GJ a while ago but they are steel but in saying that, they are Philips head and I've used them for more sturdy jobs and they are good quality, no breaking and the head didn't strip out, what a surprise, that's usually the first sign off shit quality. It's still steel though. I find the Stew Mac ones strip real easy in the bobbin but at least they are Philips head, I think all slotted screws should be tossed out, how many time must I stab myself. Are you still boycotting GJ

By golly, Ward you are right, the GJ ones are steel. Never noticed it before and didn't think to test it. I guess at my beginning level I guess steel didn't hurt anything. I am still mostly experimenting with my humbuckers trying to get some designs nailed down, not selling any but it is good to know, and I should have noticed.www.sonnywalton.com
