the ad reads the person selling it made a deal with Yngwie involving this guitar for a Ferrari, maybe Yngwie is getting more into cars these days...LOL strange find though.

Two things. Appraised for 17,500, but selling for 19,990. Seems logical.

        And this little bit:
I have never played it as I wanted to leave it just as he did.
Didn't play it, but he took it apart. Am I missing something?

you're all just jealous of his Yngwie-ness.

            From the auction:
You are viewing Yngwie Malmsteen's personally owned Black 1955 Fender Stratocaster that he bought in Sweden in 1987. I recently acquired it as Yngwie and I made a deal involving my Ferrari.
Your title should have read: Yngwie must need some Ferarri.

Yngwie is a character, but I could never see him doing male modeling.....LMAO I am guessing as his star continues to decline, he will liquidate many more items of interest. Still an incredible talent though.

As long as he can afford the Ferarris and more old strats than most of us I don´t worry ;-)

and by the way he is´collecting Lamorghinis, too.Oh oooo and what about the Rolex watches........

                Great guitar player !

                  Yeah... Good luck with that.

In this economy? (Yes it's getting slightly better, but $19,990.00), Collectibles are in the tank. What ever deal was made surely worked out best for Yngwie. If this guy gets the base appraised $17,500.00 then my a$$ is a banjo. Tough break kataraxkidd.

Hey, it comes with a set of strings and some picks!

                    And this little bit:
Didn't play it, but he took it apart. Am I missing something?
                    I thought the same thing!

lol. Not to turn this into any kind of bashing thread (hell, why not!). Maybe I'm missing something but the guys guitar playing never did anything for me. I'm always surprised when I run across a hard core fan. I just don't get it.

Try playing some of it. It ain't easy! I'm not a fan, but I think he's technically a very good player. Stylistically he can get redundant. But he can play very fast and clean while picking every note. I like that kind of playing better than someone playing the same old tired blues licks as everyone else.

But I'd rather listen to Mattias IA Eklundh for that kind of thing.

I enjoy the Yngwie detractors as much as the worshipers, both have unwarranted axes to grind, it's totally redundant. You had to be part of the music scene in the late 70's and early 80's to understand the effect people likeTom Scholz, Kerry Livegrin, Eddie Van Halen, and Yngwie had on the rock scene. They brought something new and relatively untried to their music, Tom Scholz with the electronics and one of a kind sound, Kerry Livegrin with the ultra clean picking with speed, Eddie with the hammer-ons/pull offs, and unorthodox song structure, Yngwie with the Boroque influence, heavilly classical structure, and blistering speed. George Lynch put it best(about Eddie) when he said; "I watched this guy opening for us(his band the "Boys") and I knew I had to go back and practice some more". The impact of players like these is rare, and long lasting.
You may love or hate Yngwie, but you can't take away what he brought to music, much like DiMeola did for classical and Jazz. People hated him too.

For the fast picking, I like Paul Gilbert.

at that time he brought something to the table that no one else was doing neoclassical speed .back then you mention speed his name was first but allot of his stuff all sounds the same , but he could have been a little classier thru out his career i remember he was always dissing the likes of Eddie and others.................. i don't say he made too many friends ahole comes to mind
