don't know enough to say how useful, but found a page with some interesting looking stuff:

Capacitance and inductance calculator- converts between most forms of impedance

How to build a capacitance bridge (pdf file)

  • #2
Be aware that the self-capacitance of an inductor (such as a pickup coil) cannot be measured by a four-arm impedance bridge of any kind.

Nor can any handheld LCR meter measure the self-capacitance of an inductor.

The problem is fundamental, and is not due to bad design or cut corners in the instrument or bridge.

cool. I've no awareness (so thanks for commenting!).

(Can I ask what sort of use the cap. and inductance calculator would be useful for?)

Basically, one measures the inductance at a frequency well below resonance, measures the self-resonant frequency with a number of capacitors connected in parallel, and solves for the "missing capacitance". The method is documented in Terman. The issue is extensively discussed in prior posts.
