It's not fun working with the semi-hollows, but tying a strong thread around the switch and pots before pushing them down through the hole and fishing them back up through the f-holes makes it a little easier to just pull them back up into place when you're done with the soldering.

Your right about the string. I'm going to let the owner worry about that. I think he's worked on Semi-hollows many times before. I'm just hoping to build a decent pickup for him so he won't have to do more than once!

This is a small part of my buddy John's collection. I think he has about 20 now. None of them are old enough to have PAFs. They are all early 80's Historics, except the '74 LP Custom and the Aldo Nova guitar.

Most have Shaws, but he replaces the pickups in the guitars he likes/plays with Duncan Antiquities. The other guitars he built, except the bull's eye Charvel. He was the "G" in SGD.

I haven't been on this forum long, but I'm a fast learner, and one thing I've learned is that Brad Likes (Luvs) Zeppelin and Jimmy Page as much as I do.
I think we should all bow with a moment of silence, as we Crank up a little Black Dog, or Stairway on the old 8-Track.

Black Dog, yes. Stairway... if I never hear it again in my life, that will be fine with me.

And did you ever see Page & Plant doing that? They left the whole riff out because it was written by JPJ!

The Little Monster came in today.
I have a few pictures of it.
They're not real good, inside without flash.

There is one thing that doesn't fit to well.
you will notice slug (bar) is a 1/8-3/16" to short.
It all floats around nothing is screwed into place.
I will have to be careful to get it all in place.
The bobbins are tiny, I hope to get 3k dcr on them.
              Any comments, or observations?

Damn, I must be the last guy on earth that still loves Stairway, for me it's freekin Kasmir that should hit the bin on the way out.

                    Yep that's it.
That's the first time I got a box from Mojo, without having to dread the charge card bill!!!
My buddy gets to dread the bill instead.
Well Brad did you give your moment of silence when we put stairway on the 8-track?
I liked all the early stuff the best. Back when they just quit calling themselves the new Yardbirds! I guess it went over like a Led Zeppelin

Nope, todays been too hectic like I just got off the phone with a parts supplyer working out some details for my Classic-Vibe and Vibe Baby parts, logstics just sucks sometimes.

But later I'm going to plug my R9 (with my own PAF winds) into my "plexi" amp (my own make of course) and belt me out some Stairway ...YEAH BABY!

Back in the 70's I was in a band that did like 15-20 Zep songs. Kasmir was nicknamed "the bathroom song" because when we played it all the band girlfriend's went to the bathroom. lol

Houses of he Holy is one of my favorite Zep albums. I liked their later weirder stuff the best.

You probably liked the later albums like in thru the out door. Probably liked the disco tunes! After all I'm pretty sure your some-what younger than I.
Did you see my picture and those little delicate bobbins?
I don't know if I can wind anything that small or not!
We had a birthday party this afternoon, I will try to give it some attention tomorrow.
My wheels have been turning, plotting and planning.
David do you think Brad has her climbing that stairway by now?
                            Later,

I wasn't crazy about that album. I liked Presence a lot and Physical Graffiti. And of course Led Zeppelin IV. The band I'm in does Misty Mountain Hop.

                              I'm 52.

Those bobbins aren't so bad. I did some dual rail strat pickups. They are pretty small.

This seems to be exactly the same parts as Allparts sells. If you have the screws mounted, the magnet in place and the slug positioned in the bobbin and both bobbins in place you will notice that it also doesn't but up against the magnet. If so, it is for sure the same kit as Allparts. There shouldn't be a problem getting 3K on those bobbins as they are a tad higher than the vintage specs.
