    I can't open it either.
I guess the server is down or they took it off.

So there's a difference in approach, while some want to calculate ...then wind.

Others do the opposite, wind and document the results.
(the latter is much more fulfilling, and really doesn't take that much more time)

I did the second choice and I'm glad I did. No offence to anyone, just saying.

i do wind & document . but lately i have been experimenting with awg 43 at a low wind & before 10000 turns of 43 would be around 10k but using 43 & around 6200 winds it figured it would be 6.2k but it was about 5.7k
but before i would always come close to 1000 turns equal 1k dcr

The last coil estimator is at the old link but may not last long since the server will be shut down eventually.

Okay, the permissions are set up correctly so anyone can read from
                http://www.salvarsan.org/pickups/

The Coil_Estimator estimates windings count within 10% at worst.

                  Thanks for setting this up!

What's the recommended procedure for saving a copy?

A radical idea; why didn't I think of that?

                        (Don't answer that...)

That's how I have been using it. I saved a copy of the html file and even added my own bobbin sizes.

I'm glad I never had to look at that BSOD! (though every once in a blue moon I get one of these kernel panics):

                              Yet Another Coil Estimator

The Coil Estimator has been revised for better ease of use.

There is slightly less clutter, you can edit the bobbin dimensions,
and it shows estimates for several different fill factors.
