Looking for Schatten replacement Mabuchi motors

    The optical sensor/counter is the one thing that works fine on the Schatten. I'm powering mine with a VSR hand drill, so I can get it going quite fast; faster than I would want to wind; and the counter never misses a turn.

    The original motor is also underpowered. You can stop the winder by squeezing the wire hard! Even a sewing machine motor and speed pedal would be a big improvement.

      Thanks for the input, guys. I will start looking for those items in the near future to try and upgrade this. I just have to find a way to mount the motor since they all wont fit those screws probably

        Just locate the first screw hole (at 90º to the belt direction) as best you can and get your belt tensioned correctly then you can locate the other two or three screws with calipers or a compass with awl points and drill the new holes. The new motor face will be threaded so as long as you get the right screws to fit the new motor you should be ok.
