  • identifying a fender pickup...

...i recently purchased some pickups from a (supposedly) american strat.

the numbers on at least one of the pickups are clearly written:

    56206 38m

do these numbers mean anything in regard to origin?

I don't know what the numbers mean, unless possibly 06 is the year.
I'm curious how they are made.
Can you tell if these are pickups made with fiber flatwork with rod magnets in the middle.
Or are they the newer type that are wound on a bobbin?
The bobbin type I think have slugs in the bobbin with a bar magnet underneath, or possible 2 bar magnets.
Just curious what kind you are trying to identify?
    Good Luck,
    Terry

...mainly i'm trying to establish that they came from an american-made fender strat, as stated by the seller, and not from an mim etc.
i don't have them with me - i bought them used to give to my brother.
as i recall, they are a standard (afaik) fender strat pickup.

I'm not sure if anyone keeps track of those numbers. Fender part numbers are usually something like xxx-xxxx-xxx and that would be easy to figure out, but for recent models no one seems to bother decoding. M possibly could be "middle".

"American" Fender pickup is awfully broad. There probably have been a couple dozen, at least, variations of pickups in American made strats. Many of them would be not too far removed from Mexican pickups. Photos would probably be better.
