disclaimer: I don't normally build or play
But I do like the theory, which is why I try to just read the form and not participate, but this has been eating at me.

Wouldn't the best hum canceling be created by two coils which are the most similar in both position to similar magnetic fields and location to the strings?

So run two spools of wire off the same winder onto the same bobbin creating two coils almost identical in both location to the magnetic field and to the location relative to the strings.

Of course you can only make a coil at least half as small as normal, but can't that be compensated with two small transformers? Just need to wire one coil out of phase to create the canceling effect.

Of course now after seeing this in writing I wonder if this wouldn't be complete sound canceling... If that's the case then would one coil not transformed or using a different gauge work?

see this is why I don't build, but I like to think, and its as really slow Wednesday.

    It wont be loud enough
You will have to crank the amp ,just to hear it

Wouldn't you also only have one polarity too? There'd only be south OR north for both coils?

That's bifilar winding, and it will cancel string signal just as efficiently as it cancels hum. The two coils have to be electrically "out of phase" and also magnetically in reverse polarity or you need one dummy coil and one magnetic coil. This is really basic stuff...

What if you wound two coils this way and used slugs, screws and a bar magnet just like a standard bucker? You would want to keep track of the start and finish of all 4 coils to wire two (one on each bobbin) reverse direction of current flow from the other two.

          This is really basic stuff...
Should this be moved to the beginners corner?

Sorry, I was think humbucker anyway. Duh. I'll go to the corner.
