    I came across this & I thought it might work for any metal base plate
    Permanently Etch Metal Tools, Parts, With Trademarks In Seconds!

      It should work well. I would ask for the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), so you know how careful to be. Although the electrolyte is probably mostly salt and/or sodium carbonate in water, there may be additives for certain metals.

        That looks great - and if it works on tool alloys like in the pictures, we're pretty much guaranteed that it'll work on pickup baseplates.

            I also have a nephew that cant seem to return any of my tools -anyone want a job etching wrenches & sockets
