  • Grrrrr

So I had this gold PAF in the junk box, not a real one, but something from Gibson with the sticker and the lead cut off. Obviously an old pull picked up from some tech's junk box. Yeah, it was open. Well, my mutant Nighthawk would look nice with it.

So I disassemble it find a bad conx rewire and relead it 8.3K Ohms. Hurray for me. Polish the cover and reassemble, put it in the guitar, fresh strings, all set up and ..... Thin, twizzy tone with more noise than should be. Yep, got the coils out of phase. Dammit.

    Back to work.

    Thanks for hearing the rant.

I just rewound a '76 T-bird pickup, and did exactly that! I didn't have the other pickups to compare it to.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
