  • P-94 bobbins.

Any one a have a source for them. I am getting ready to start making the bobbins but want to do some testing on already produced bobbins and plates.

We are gonna make them out of carbon fiber in both solid and the hole pattern styles but that is gonna be a while. When we are done we will of course we will offer them to others at around cost as we should all be able to make these pups.

    Thanks in advance.
    Shut up and play

Great! Don't forget to make'em with different polepiece spreads! IMO, all SC p'ups should be offered with different polepiece spreads.

      Poles are so 1950!

Use blades. One size fits all!
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Yeah and blades are so 1980's. Not caring about pole alignment is so 1990's and claiming to hear differences in baseplate alloys through your Line 6 Spider is so 2000's. What have you done for me lately?
Captain Kool Aid (if that IS your real name) why are you not cutting down P90 bobbins? You can make them taller by ripping two and joining them, (though I'm not a fan of the altered height myself) Also I did some checking around, and you're not even a real captain.

I started making them from lexan & tried a little taller core when Mojo's p-90 bobbins were out of stock ,but i must say i like the I liked the tone from a standard p-90 height

Since they are not as long as a P-90, wouldn't you have to make them taller to get the same number of turns on the bobbin? (I haven't made any myself, and have no interest in them).

you got to make them taller if your going to get any amount of 42 gauge wire on them or use standard bobbin & use 43

David, guitars are NOT basses. Guitar players are NOT bass players. We just DON'T think that low!

My guess is he does not want to see the soap bar mounting screw holes. I'm cutting down P-90 bobbins but I had a die made for Nickel Silver covers with the holes in the center.
They don't make them like they used to... We do.

                      That's what I figured.

There are a lot of guitar pickups with blades!

cutting the bobbins is the easy part. drilling the holes in the cover and baseplates leaves no room for error. I couldn't do it without a milling machine.

You can also make a drill guide. I did that for drilling the holes in the back of a tele. I do use a milling machine whenever I can though.

Yeah, just no P-90s or similar.

                              Wonder why?
