I'm done early tonite so now I'm home tinkering.
Every time I see a vid of Pat Metheny from recent years he is getting the sound of pickup + mic on the soundhole of the guitar. So my best guess is he's sending an internally mounted mic on a separate cable from the pickup.
But does anyone have any info better than a guess? I have a hot-rodded jalopy jazz box (faux L5 style) that I would like to use to cop that sound.
