  • Keeper Bars I was asked.

So a while back I got asked about showing pics of the Addiction FX keeper bars. They just got them in and i have some so here are some pics. Yes that is my winder and yes my bench is a total mess, so excuse t6hat please.

They are not plated and are 1018 raw stock. I love them. Also they got the plated plates in as well. Threaded pole screw holes and such.

    Hello,
I was wondering would the term raw stock to mean common bar stock, or work hardened by cold rolling?

1018 is a cold roll specification. The only company that I am aware of in the united states that sells the metal in 1/8 x 3/16 bar stock is Earl M Jorgenson. You can also make them out of what is called "Key Stock" which is 1010 steel. The 1018 sounds great and i've made thousands of keepers using it.

Can you possiblly get a few better quality pictures of the holes? The photos are out of focus and I'd love to see how they look up close

Yeah I can try. I have no batteries in the camera but my daughter has a new HTC phone with a good camera on it let me see what i can do. I do know they are hand done. And when I use the term raw stock I am referring to the fact there is no plating on them just like the old PAF bars were.

Never saw a threaded keeper bar before, weird. It says their baseplates are plated, does anyone have one, are they metric threaded?

would I be wrong in assuming the higher carbon keeper would contribute to a brighter sound or is there more to it than that?

The baseplates are threaded, not the keeper bars.
The 6 Fillister Head Screws thread into the baseplate.
I have never used a baseplate that was threaded either.
All humbuckers Ive used the Screws thread into the bobbin,
The baseplate usually has a drilled hole, that the fillister screw will slide through.

                    Hi Terry

Gibson paf and later baseplates were threaded looks like Dennis has done his homework. Nice to see that he as taken the trouble to make it vintage accurate, all thats needed now is matching 8 hole keeper bars to keep things paf accurate, and of course hope that he will deliver to Europe again in the near future. Everything that I have ordered has arrived in good order and is high quality. Itīs nice to see that someone takes the trouble to supply us pickup makers with what we want and at a good price. I for one wish him and his daughter all the best for the future.

                    Cheers

I just wish they could get a real website and Take Credit Cards.
Because of that I buy most things from Real Businesses, like Mojo, and Guitar Parts USA.
Hanna and Dennis, talked like they would have a real website some day.
I would probably take a drill to the threaded holes and re-bend, and recut the Legs on the baseplate.
I hate a long legged baseplate, but I'm not in to PAFs.
As far as the amount of holes on the keeper, Your not going to see it after assembly anyway.

                        Hi Terry

It probably wouldīnt be worth their while to turn their business into a "real business" and I for one am happy enough so long as they deliver to me. I take your point on that you canīt see how many holes there are, I just wondered if the lower iron/steel content with the extra holes would change the inductance or tone in any perceptible way.

                        Cheers

I really like these new parts. The baseplate seems to have a more authentic shaping than what has been offered. It is like a combo of the best features of what has been out there with a couple extra refinements made (lie the tapped holes for the screw poles). The keeper is really nice. Maybe not as many holes as the PAF's, but it is that nice solid machined bar.

He's on eBay, so that means you can use credit cards via PayPal. You don't need to have a Paypal account.

That's how I accept payments on my website's store.

I hate long legged baseplates as well. Mojo has short legged baseplates. Lately I have been using their fibre baseplates.

                              I don't do ebay either.
I'm content right now with Mojo.
G.P.USA has the baseplates I like.
I have used a bunch of these.
