Just came across this. I don't own an iPad or iPhone myself. Some folks might and might find this interesting. YMMV, etc.

    Mixed Signal Oscilloscope - iMSO-104 | Oscium

iPads are rather slow, you'd probably be better off buying the Syscomp, alot less money and probably does as much, $300 is awful steep for software scopes these days...

The Oscium thing isn't just an app, it comes with an A/D converter box that plugs into the dock port. From what I've heard the various mini DSOs from Seeed Studio can eat it for breakfast.

All of them can eat my ancient Tektronix 222A for breakfast. It is the size of a house brick with lead acid batteries, 1M samples per second and no FFT.

I gotta ask this... how much scope do you need?

I have a mid1960's Tek tube powered storage scope myself in storage, and I finally quit using it because it was
half the size of my Fender Twin and I needed the room. Also, the retubing bill was enormous. It did keep my area
nice and warm in winter though.

IMO if your scope can display 2 MHz reliably it's all you will ever need for making pickups.

Yea. I have a Syscomp. Some folks are really into the iPad/iPhone stuff though, so ...
            Just FYI, YMMV, KMAIYDLI, etc.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Yeah, he just made that one up.

I guess the start is "Kiss My A**"... not sure 'bout the rest, though.

I think the key issue is:
I gotta ask this... how much scope do you need?
I still use my 25 Year old Kikusui "Audio Stereo Scope" , which, as the name suggests, was not designed for TV servicing or whatever but specifically for Audio (analog audio, that is).
Only 1.5MHz bandwidth but an incredibly useful array of functions meant for ... Stereo Audio, including presets to easily compare phse difference between channels or differential noise/hum measurements and stuff like that.
Probably you can also make all that with a conventional scope and then some, but here itīs available at the flick of a switch.
Havenīt "upgraded" it because of its convenience.
Plus .... "an old dog does not learn new tricks".

Edit: and no, itīs not a retubing monstrosity: mid sized, entirely SS and with very easy to get parts, including some TTL.

I'm good with acronyms but I needed a head start.
