Any of you guys ever taken a grinder to a ceramic magnet(thinking diamond might do it. Took a Rowe diamond patterned cover pickup off a Roy Smeck, apart awhile ago and have to duplicate some, but, noticed magnet was notched at the ends for the rivets. short of having to make or source molds which is a lot for a dozen magnets will they grind or am I just winding myself up and get round it another way.

you could probably grind them with a bench grinder, or a dremmel, depending what exactly you are trying to do. how that would effect the magnet might be an issue though...

A wet grinder will work on ferrite. Diamond is one way. But it must be wet.

          thanks all.

          OK Guys
Given me an idea a wet diamond tile cutter could be the answer I'll let you Know. Thanks for the comments Nightwinder love your stuff as well and wish I'd got to the pickup stage earlier on in life and not left it till now as nearly time to get out the fishing gear and spend the last years contemplating how the hell iv'e survived this long in the same world as Tony Blair and GW. So I will get this done and then work that out as well. Not got all the meter gear but will find a way to see whether the magnets degrade after cutting.

            that worked as well.

bought one of those tile cutters this morning £26 GBP inc tax with a 500w motor and a speed of 3000rpm. Type that looks like a small table saw with a water container underside. Cut the ceramic like a knife through butter allthough I shattered the corner of the first one because of the gap in the saw slot bed under the magnet but fixed a ply bed with a small slot and worked perfectly.
Can't say much without a meter what has happened to the properties but it picked up a 250mm square piece of 2 mm mild steel before I cut it and still picks it up now so good enough for what I need. Cheers guys for the idea solved my problem I can carry on.
