  • Can someone identify these humuckers for me?

I just got a Gibson L6-S from the early 70's. These pickups were in it but the guitar has had a lot of mods. The original pickups in the guitar were covered Bill Lawerence pickups. These might be those without the covers but I don't think so. They might be some pickups totally unrelated. They have contols that send them out of phase, and split them it that helps. The bases are cream colored plastic and the screws on the top are all philips heads which I haven't seen before.

Help a brother out. Who knows what these are?

I remember seeing these before, and the story about them being in an L6-S sounds really familiar too. I also remember the wow screws used for pole pieces.

I'll have to see if I remember... otherwise I have no idea who made those.

Somebody on another forum suggest maybe they are early Bill Lawrence pickups. Model number L-100. I am trying to get information from Bill to confirm it.

The molded base of the pickup does look like a Bill Lawrence. It's the same base used on the L-500s.

        How do they sound?

I had a leaf through my copy of "Pickups" by Milan, but couldn't find anything like that. Lawrence used screw pole pieces, but that isn't really too helpful.

How do they sound - those look like a score to me.

I haven't tried them yet. The guitar has a few issues. I will put it back together in a couple of days and try them out. They have 4 mini toggles to operate them. We will see how it goes.

I just came across this article about the pickups.
