Nope, Bloomfield never used pedals, he just plugged straight in and turned up the amp. The amp is some kind of blonde Bassman or something, can't tell exactly which amp it is except its a Fender head and cab combo. Thats what PAF's sound like played simply without much amp distortion. Very bright, as PAF's are, classic vocal tone and chirpy things happening. Michael used very heavy strings, 12's or 13's, probably the typical Black Diamond strings we were stuck with back then. I still have permanent grooves in my fingers from learning on those things. I read that guys would ask to play his guitar at jams and he'd hand it to them and they'd quickly hand it back ;-)
There's an excellent website about him that has a lengthy audio documentary on him with alot of good music he did, he was also great on acoustic and learned to sing really well towards the end of his career:
    Mike Bloomfield: An American Guitarist

You can download the four hour audio documentary here, I highly recommend it:

Like I said, I have a bunch of them. Almost all are in guitars. My opinion, they vary...a lot. Be it the humbuckers or the single coils of this era. They all are the most unpredictable era Duncans I have encountered. I have a few that sound realy good, I have some that sound okay, I have a couple that sound terrible, dark and muddy, and likely will rewind someday..but then I think "Why not just build a whole new pickup?

There's supposed to be a full length documentary DVD put out this year about Bloomfield, the website also did a multi-part video on his life thats on YouTube or the website in the video section. I was never really into Bloomfield back in those days, he was never a real flashy player but did some very cool stuff I was aware of. His Les Paul belonged to Dan Erlewine originally. Belongs to some collector now....
