You can blame the Japanese for high PAF and Les Paul prices. Back in the 80's and 90's Japan was rich and anything that was old and made in America they drove the prices sky high and bought up all they could. I used to collect WWII leather flying jackets and all the good ones are in Japan now, 'cept now they are probably selling them back to us at a loss ;-)
I'm sorry for Frank Falbo, but the Lone Ranger's guitars all had silver magnet wire and his faithful Les Paul "Keemosobby" had that and silver strings, knobs, tuners and pickguard. There really is nothing NEW under the sun....
Well, the Chinese are the "new Japanese" so they'll probably start buying them.
I remember when Columbia Pictures became Sony Pictures, so I guess that in less than 5 years we'll see it transforned in Red Dragon Pictures, Shanghai Pictures or something like that.
Just in case, I'm starting to learn Chinese.
