  • How long do you cut your 'bucker lead wire?

I've been cutting mine too long as a point of caution...but it's wasteful.

How long do you all cut your leads? Do you cut bridge pickup leads shorter than neck pickup leads?

    I do the same.
I cut the neck much longer than the bridge.
I leave plenty of length for left and right hand routing.
Single coils, I don't leave near as long.

I never measured it but i'm assuming a les paul needs about a 16" piece of wire for the neck

12 inches. (but these are for basses, not Les Pauls)

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

15 inches. Long enough for any guitar, be it neck or bridge position. 15 leaves plenty of lenght for an LP neck, as well.

You should know what your customer is putting them into. If its a 335 you need to make them longer. I have a pile of guitars laying around my room and just go over to one and do a rough stretching of the wire over the guitar and then cut it and give a few inches for error. Nothing worse than hearing from a customer that the leads didnt reach the pots.....

If the guitarist is left handed they need to be longer also.
                Lefties do buy pickups.
