Thank you Possum! I was hearing at the local camera store how my 5700 was 'obsolete' and I should buy another camera.

I have a tripod here somewhere, and some old daylight spots leftover from my film camera, so I'm going to see what I can do with this 5700.

Yes, hand written by Michael. I handled two hand written notes. I have a photo on my cell phone of me holding the other one. His people came in with a locked briefcase with stuff in it and stayed the whole time I was scanning, and then left with the originals.

The scratched out word is "voice". It's still a very weird note. I have no idea why it was written. This was all done after he died, and before the boxed set came out. I'm assuming I was scanning material for that.

I also have a photo of him with no makeup, and his nose falling apart.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 here somewhere, a reasonably nice camera in its day but it only has 5 megapixels. It supposedly has F stop ability and other toys, but as usual I can't find the manual to save my soul. I'm going to have to go to the Nikon website to see if I can find a manual.
That's a nice camera. I have an 8 megapixel Canon PowerShot A590. It's old already, but also lets me use aperture priority, or manual settings. Most of the time I use auto with the macro focus setting. I either use or don't use the flash. If the shadows are too dark I fix that in Photoshop, or even in Apple's iPhoto, which has gotten some nice editing tools.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Michael was surely a genius. The movie they made from the rehearsals, I avoided watching for a long time but curiosity got to me finally. Great show, I kind of wished they somehow had taken the show on the road and got a few different vocalists to do his parts or something, all those poor kids never got to show their stuff on tour...
Yeah your camera is out of date, truth is anything you buy is out of date by the time you leave the store, thats a good camera you have. You'll want to put something over the spots to give you soft light, spots make bad reflections, but be careful you don't start a fire. My desk lights are two 100 watt compact florescent Ottlites, perfect for photography, day light color temperature. They aren't real hot so just a paper towel over each one softens the light alot.
