  • Low-z bass humbuckers with Stratoblaster

I just wound coils for two low-z bass humbucker. Laminated transformer plate core, forbon plates, alnico5 magnet and 1500 turns of 42AWG wire on each coil, total resistance 2,2kOhm. I tested one of them with Vox Amplug and headphones and it sounded very nice. Now I'm going to use Stratoblasters to amplify the signal. Stratoblaster has 50k pot as gain. I'd like to replace it with fixer resistor. Which is full gain, 50k or 0k on that pot? David S, at least you have used these in similar use. Is there anything else I should do?

And here's some sound clips. Neck, both and bridge pickup, no tone shaping. Stratoblaster on each pickup.

Clockwise is boost on the trim pot, so it's easy to figure out.

Those are very similar to my first line of pickups. I haven't made those in a while, but I'm going to reintroduce them.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
